In shocking news today reported by the People’s Daily, Chen Shuibian will be held responsible if a war breaks out between China and Taiwan, and the separatists will be treated the same way war criminals will be treated after the war, suggesting that Taiwan will stand no chance in the war. This message is being carried on all major Chinese websites and has been made sure to be known as prominent information. The People’s Liberation Army officers stand strongly by this statement. This warning came as a reaction to the ‘defense referendum’ passed by Taiwan a short while ago.
Also, I have read an article about the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ policy in China/Macao/Hong Kong, and it is funny to compare the article in CNN vs. the article in the People’s Daily. China’s newspaper, the People’s daily just speaks of how the president of China is willing to and fully supports the system, while in the CNN article it speaks of how the system has recently come under heat because of the lack of suffrage in Hong Kong. Also, Beijing has been worried about Hong Kong’s social condition due to the SARS epidemic. Anyway, the point is, it is funny how People’s Daily is more upbeat about the situation than CNN is. Also, it is easy to point out that People’s Daily is much bleaker about the Taiwan situation than CNN.
